FAQ ☘︎ SOURCING

SOURCINGᥫ᭡

Every specimen is chosen with intention, care, and respect.
I DO NOT use wild-caught insects and the specimens used are never killed for the purpose of art. They are collected only after they have reached the end of their life cycle. Every butterfly, moth, and specimen you see here is sourced exclusively from sustainable farms and breeders around the world. These farms specialize in raising insects in controlled environments where they can live out their full, natural life cycles.

These programs support conservation efforts, by breeding species in captivity, they help reduce the hardships these bugs face in the wild and help to kill the demand for wild-caught populations and protect delicate ecosystems from over-harvesting. These farms contribute to habitat preservation and local environmental education.

This process allows me to create real, organic scenes while honoring the life that once was. It’s important to me that my work reflects not just beauty, but responsibility and respect. Every piece you bring into your space carries that intention with it.

─── ⋅ FAQ ───

Are the insects killed for your art?

No, I DO NOT kill insects for my work. All specimens are sustainably sourced from farms and breeders and are collected only after they have passed naturally or reached the end of their life cycle.

Why are some pieces more expensive than others?

Each piece is priced based on the rarity, scale, and availability of the specimen, as well as the level of detail involved in the entire composition. Certain species are more limited and can only be sourced in small quantities, making them inherently more valuable. Beyond the specimen itself, every arrangement is crafted by hand, with all real florals, stones/crystals and a focus on balance, preservation, and visual impact. No two pieces are ever the same, and that individuality is reflected in the pricing.

Are your specimens wild-caught?

Never. I DO NOT use ANY wild-caught insects. Everything is sourced from controlled environments that are designed to protect natural populations and ecosystems.

Where do your specimens come from?

I work with trusted butterfly and insect farms from around the world that raise species in safe, regulated environments. Many of these farms also support conservation efforts and help reduce the need for wild harvesting.

Do insect farms harm the environment?

Sustainable insect farms are designed to do the opposite. By breeding insects in captivity, they help protect wild populations and reduce pressure on fragile ecosystems..

How are the insects preserved?

Every specimen undergoes a slow, deliberate process designed to maintain its natural structure and integrity. Each insect is carefully relaxed, pinned, and set by hand using traditional techniques. This process requires patience and precision, allowing the specimen to be displayed in a way that feels both lifelike and refined. The result is a lasting piece that preserves the quiet beauty of the things that shouldn’t last.

Are the skulls and bones used real?

No, I currently do not use any real bones. Everything I use is printed or made of clay due to weight, sourcing, and many other factors.
